We explore the history of sports through film, teaching social justice and starting conversations around the inequalities in sports both on and off the field. With leading partners in diversity, equity and inclusion, we will help create solutions that lead to a more equal playing field for all. You can join us in this fight by making a donation to fund this programming.
Sports Film Fest is working with young artists (ages 10-21) to help create our animated films and kids books, titled “Josh’s Inspirational Journeys, Dream Big.” These animated films and books will use the power of sports and storytelling to educate and inspire the next generation.
Our stories explore how the athlete was introduced to sports, what sports has help them overcome in life and what profession that are interested in off the field. These stories transcend the field of play and will enable us to inspire kids to expand their dreams.
Using our unique animation process, we help fill gaps in the educational landscape like reading literacy, attention span and mental health. We also bridge the digital divide in education by presenting our films and books virtually and in print.
Sports and Art are two of the most cut public programs for school age kids in the US. This is creating a wider divide of the haves and have-nots. We fill a gap in the educational landscape by bringing together athletes, artists and kids allowing us to build a supportive community that promotes self expression and physical fitness led by athletes.
Our animated films are made for kids 3-9 years old to help spark their imagination and learn through creativity. We hire young visual and musical artists (ages 10-23) to create our animated film and book series, Josh’s Inspirational Journeys, Dream Big. We need your support to create more films and books, educating the next generation.
We will lead off our sportscasting programming track by featuring a film on Marty Glickman, one of the two Jewish US athletes who weren’t allowed to compete in the 1936 Olympics. “Glickman” is an illuminating portrait of a man who overcame prejudice to forge a remarkable career in sports, setting the gold standard for athletes and sports broadcasters past, present and future.
Adidas vs. Puma tells the story of the Dassler brothers who started one of the first athletic shoe companies in the world in 1920’s Germany. Their story is intertwined with history and Jessie Owens accomplishment of stomping down white supremacy with every step he took on the track at the 1936 Olympics, while wearing their shoes. It also touches on the antisemitism that Jewish athletes faced and will lead us into further programming in 2022 on the 2 US Jewish runners, Marty Glickman and Sam Stoller, who weren’t allowed to compete at the 1936 Olympics. The Dassler brothers went on to found iconic sports brands Adidas & Puma after WWII.
Sports Film Fest has been working with DonkeeBoy’s Young Art Pros students to create art that celebrates the Phi Slama Jama team from the 1980’s. These students have created an animated kids book with each page downloadable as a coloring page for kids across the country! These have also created unique Art Backboards that will be revealed this weekend. Please support our educational programming by making a donation today!
