Equality Initiative

We explore the history of sports through film, teaching social justice and starting conversations around the inequalities in sports both on and off the field. With leading partners in diversity, equity and inclusion, we will help create solutions that lead to a more equal playing field for all. Fighting Antisemitism

The past few years we have seen an increase in Antisemitism in the sports and entertainment worlds. To fight this, We will create an educational class around the films Glickman and Adidas vs. Puma that brings together athletes, entertainers and our audience, teaching them the history of antisemitism and why is so important to fight it today. This will include a screening tourĀ around the country creating educational opportunities for their communities with filmmaking workshops around artifacts from the 1936 Olympics. You can join us in this fight by making a donation to fund this programming.

Phi Slama Jama Kids Book

ISFF is partnering with Artist Donkee Boy and his “Young Art Pros” students to create an animated kids book that tells the story of the 1980’s UH basketball team, known as Phi Slama Jama. You can support our educational programming and these students by making a donation today!

College Football Championship January 2024

Join us the weekend of January 6-8th in Houston during the College Football Championship. We will present our animated films and kids books on Marty Glickman and Historic Black Quarterbacks from Houston. We will also hold educational art activities. Stay tuned for more info. ISFF Aspen 2023

ISFF x ASPEN presented Dear Rider: The Jake Burton Story in Aspen on January 26, 2023. Celebrating the life and vision of snowboarding pioneer Jake Burton Carpenter, this documentary details his story and how he propelled the sport into a global phenomenon. This included a discussion panel with Director Fern Villena and Producer Abby Young. Stay tuned for our 2024 programming!

Title IX 50th Anniversary

ISFF will hold virtual and in-person screenings in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Title IX.

A League of Their Own- Gender Equality

ISFF is partnering with the Museum of Fine Arts Houston to present A League of Their Own on the 30th anniversary of the film’s release and as part of our celebration of women in sports for the 50th Anniversary of Title IX. The screening was August 13, 2022 in the Brown Auditorium.
