
ISFF Houston will be held April 2, 2023. We will center our programming around the films Phi Slama Jama. We will celebrate Houston’s influence on collegiate basketball and take a look back 40 years later on the ripple effects of the game against NC State. How a missed play ushered in one of the biggest sports charities in history, the V Foundation and one of the most impactful speeches ever made, by Jim Valvano at the ESPY Awards.
ISFF HTOWN
We will also celebrate the city of Houston’s impact on the sport of college basketball and beyond and the sportscasters who told their stories. From Jim Nantz to Barry Warner, these figure’s impact went well beyond the city of Houston.

ISFF is partnering with Artist Donkee Boy and his “Young Art Pros” students to create an animated kids book that tells the story of the 1980’s UH basketball team, known as Phi Slama Jama. You can support our educational programming and these students by making a donation today!

We will screen Phi Slama Jama at Levy Park on Sunday, April 2, 2023. This event is free and open to the public. We will have a storytelling class, art class and a panel discussion on the impact of that game and a look back 30 years later on the ripple effects of that game. U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum hosts ISFF Pop-up June 26 & 27th.
ISFF and the USOPM are partnering to present a film festival during the Hall of Fame Induction weekend. We will use film to explore the history of the Olympics and athletes achievements on and off the field.

ISFF X ASPEN January 2024

ISFF is hosting a VIP Fundraising party at The Sterling from 5-7pm with special guests. Proceeds from the event will be split between ISFF’s nonprofit Through the Lens and Burton’s CHILL Program. You can purchase tickets and make tax-deductible donations via the button below.

ISFF is excited to present Dear Rider: The Jake Burton Story in Aspen on January 26, 2023. Celebrating the life and vision of snowboarding pioneer Jake Burton Carpenter, this documentary details his story and how he propelled the sport into a global phenomenon. A Discussion panel will follow the screening with Director Fern Villena and Producer Abby Young.

ISFF is working on an animated kids book that tells the powerful story of Jake Burton.


Title IX 50th Anniversary
ISFF will hold virtual and in-person screenings in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Title IX.

ISFF is partnering with the Museum of Fine Arts Houston to present A League of Their Own on the 30th anniversary of the film’s release and as part of our celebration of women in sports for the 50th Anniversary of Title IX. The screening was August 13, 2022 in the Brown Auditorium.

ISFF will be hosting a cocktail reception at the US Olympic & Paralympic Museum prior to the screening. The film will be screened next to the actual scoreboard from the game!
Miracle is the inspiring true story behind one of the greatest moments in sports history — the 1980 United States ice hockey team’s triumphant Olympic victory against the Soviet Union.

Partnerships
We are telling a story through the films we select, taking our audience on a series of journeys through the human condition in sports.

ISFF will partner with a local team or athlete to create a Celebrity sports event as a joint fundraiser for the athlete/team’s Foundation and ISFF’s charity, Through the Lens. Proceeds will be split 50/50. We will use the power of film to highlight these causes.

ISFF will partner with Athletes, Team & Foundations to screen short films & host sports activities that create greater access to sports in underprivileged communities.
We will partner to give philanthropic athletes a platform to raise awareness and revenue for their charitable causes.

We will partner with athletes to create an Athlete Ambassador program. This will consist of levels of fundraising paired with creating content of their life and story. From kids books to a documentary film, the content we create will be powerful and impactful, sharing their story with their fans.

ISFF is partnering with film students from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs to create short films on the drivers and cars competing at the 2022 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
